A Closer Look at Lake Highlands

As one of the most popular neighborhoods in Dallas, Lake Highlands is a place many new residents call home. It was established in 1927 and still has a country feel today. Many of the homes were built in the 1950s, while Moss Farm Estates was developed later in the 1970s. Residents of Lake Highlands enjoy plenty of amenities and large homes.

This area of Dallas provides homes for nearly 85,000 people and the average home sells for $250,000. Building a home in this neighborhood is a bit expensive and starts around $800,000. Most of the homes have over 2,000 square feet with some ranging far beyond 4,000 square feet. If you’re looking for a larger home, this is a good area.

Why Live in Lake Highlands?

The wooded neighborhood found just two miles from White Rook Lake, provides plenty of privacy in a family-friendly atmosphere. The Richardson Schools are top notch and the new Town Center has everybody in the area buzzing. The Lake Highlands Town Center covers a total of 70 acres with 20 acres dedicated to parks and open spaces. Over two-million square feet of structures are part of the development with over 300,000 square feet dedicated to retail.

DART has developed a light rail station in the area and a hike and bike trail extends the White Rock Lake trail system to the neighborhood, as well. This allows bikers to actually pedal to the American Airlines Center and back.

This neighborhood is most attractive for families, young professionals and investors. It attracts interest from all over the city and many newcomers to the Dallas-Fort Worth area settle in Lake Highlands. It has become a favorite for those looking to downsize from a massive home to a moderately sized home or for those moving to the area with families requiring multiple bedrooms.
